Des Trembles Cemetery in Montréal
Formerly known as Hawthorn-Dale Cemetery, Des Trembles Cemetery was founded more than a century ago by the Mount-Royal Commemorative Services. Located in Pointe-aux-Trembles, in an exceptional natural site, this place of meditation and memories has been the subject of many additions in recent years, including several outdoor columbariums. This site has been home to the Des Trembles Cemetery & Funeral Complex since 1995.
The history of the Des Trembles Cemetery
Founded in 1910, the Des Trembles Cemetery was first known as Hawthorn-Dale Cemetery. It is characterized by its privileged location in the heart of the Pointe-aux-Trembles region and was once linked to Montréal by a special tramway, dedicated to transporting coffins until 1927. The cemetery has undergone many developments in recent years that have focused specifically on the interment of ashes and storage of cinerary urns.
A privileged environment for commemorations
Built within the walls of the Des Trembles Cemetery, the funeral complex blends perfectly into the atmosphere of the site. This elegant but also very warm building is suitable for the organization of funeral ceremonies, taken care of by our counsellors as soon as they die.
This site, which is more than a hundred years old, offers burials in perpetuity, whether for coffins or urns in a real hidden jewel. The cemetery is set back from Sherbrooke Street and is a peaceful place, close to Parc-Nature-de-la-Pointe-aux-Prairies, which is visited by a large number of different species of birds and animals. The beauty of this environment is our modest contribution to honour the memory of the deceased and ease the pain of their bereaved families. Here, your missing loved ones can rest in peace.
A wide choice of burials
The Des Trembles Cemetery offers a wide choice of graves, whether for the burial of coffins or urns. It is important to note that the purchase of these sites is in perpetuity, to ensure that your descendants will also be able to enjoy them when the time comes. The Serenity section and the Chapel Court have been specially designed to meet the demand for cinerary urns for the deceased. There is something for everyone: burial, outdoor and indoor columbariums. The development of these sections will take several years to complete.
The commemoration
When purchasing a cemetery site or niche, it is important to plan for its commemoration so that future generations can come to visit it. The team at the Des Trembles Cemetery can guide you in the purchase of first quality granite monuments, porcelain medallions or inscriptions on an existing monument.
